How to Avoid Being Scammed
Check TICA.org or CFA.org to verify the cattery/breeder is registered and in good standing.
Ask for customer AND vet references.
Ask for proof of genetic tests.
Huge red flag if they only accept wire transfers, gift cards, etc. for payment.
Huge red flag if they offer “buy now” or “free shipping” or the kitten is less than $1000.
Huge red flag if they don't interview you to make sure you can care for the kitten and provide a good and healthy home.
Ask for videos of kitten using an agreed to word during videos. Change the word for each video.
Ask for date/time stamped pictures.
Only send payment to a verified account that requires them to verify their identity (Bank, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, etc.)
Research reports on them in Bad Catteries FB groups.
